Arlberg and Bielerhöhe - In the footsteps of the 2nd Stage of the Transalp mountain

Yesterday, the final mountain test of the Rams faced the Transalp in 2 weeks. In the early morning we started to Austria, we wanted the passports of the 2nd Stage to take a closer look. In Pians We parked the car and started towards the Arlberg Pass. Above was a lot of traffic and the wide street was something missing the mountain feeling, except the last few miles, the increase in drive but good.

Next they were only briefly downhill, then we were still the last 2 kilometers of the Flex Pass addressed. When you stand on indoor cycling, certainly beautiful. You take all the time in a dimly lit tunnels and galleries, was in the downhill part, a very nice flying blind.

now but finally we went into the valley, where we passed the "Martin-work" and now finally know where it comes from Malle. Bludenz should begin to rise Bielerhöhe (according to our relief). The track was still very long, and thanks to the tail wind was not noticeable climbs by 1%. Somewhere there was then still the sign for the start of the Silvretta High Alpine Road, and then we went even to the point. Again and again climbs to 11%, then flatter pieces with beautiful serpentine.

And one should not underestimate the increase - it runs! Exhausted, the Rams reached the top, just above a beautiful lake, due to the efforts for which we had no eyes. Then we went the long downhill to Ischgl (way point of the 2nd stage) and on to Pians. After 160 km and 2700 hm, 6 hours of driving we were back at the car.
